MSMF Radio - Carlos Elliot Jr. with R.L. Boyce

Carlos Elliot Jr. with R.L. Boyce

Colombian artist inspired by the beat of rural dance music of north Mississippi, the Hill Country Blues along with a self-discovered sense of spirituality in Blues music, creates a unique sound that blends his backgrounds in African & Latin American music with some Rock n’ Roll, incites you to party and the dancing ritual. Considered the Hill Country Blues Pioneer in Latin America.

After his third and successful record “RAISE THE FIRE AMERICA” as ‘Power Blues Duo’ that showed a strong connection between the rhythm and melody, inspired by the north Mississippi hill Country Blues Duos, the Drums and Fife and some kind of fusions of Afro and Latino American rhythms, now he brings the new album "Del Otún & el Mississippi" featuring the legendary R.L. Boyce.

He has experienced and lived the Blues & Rock’nRoll right where it was born, playing with local legends in Juke Joints and Backyard Blues Parties in North Mississippi. Carlos Elliot Jr. is a 2-piece band, they live in Pereira (Colombia) and keep touring in the North and South America scene. Pure dancing Blues & Rock'nRoll!

RL Boyce is a blues musician from Como, Mississippi. Born in 1955, he picked up music as a teenager, starting out as a drummer in the local fife-and-drum bands of Otha Turner and Napolian Strickland, and later with Jessie Mae Hemphill as heard on her classic "Feelin' Good" album. He is also a singer and guitarist, inspired by his neighbors RL Burnside and Junior Kimbrough, as well as the records of John Lee Hooker and Howlin' Wolf. Boyce developed an individual style that draws upon songs from the local repertoire and interprets them with a considerable degree of enthusiasm and spontaneity. Though his recorded output is slim, Boyce's renown has grown over the years and his performances at his frequent house/yard parties attract friends, neighbors, and visitors from around the world.

MSMF RADIO ARTIST SERIES -THE DEVIL MUSIC CO

The Devil Music Co

The Devil Music Co. is a rock and roll experiment dedicated to creating honest and heartfelt music in the heart of South Mississippi. We grew up playing "that devil music" in local punk and hardcore bands, giving us a passion for alternative music in a region of the country that often despises it. Both the defeats and victories we've experienced as the Devil Music have made one thing abundantly clear: we want to make music. So that is what we're going to do.

2015 AMG Heritage Awards - Success!

Mississippi Youth Chamber Orchestra

We couldn't be more proud of the Mississippi Youth Chamber Orchestra and participating Mississippi Bands and Artists. With stellar performances from all, the state of Mississippi was a tremendous contributor to this year's award show. Supplying four performing groups, one of which being AMG's 2015 Best New Artist Recipient, Flirting With Sincerity, MS was sure to leave it's mark.

A very special thanks to all that were involved, especially the parents of the youth, David L. Cook and the Artist's Music Guild. Opportunities like this would not be possible without everyone's continued contributions and support.

Stay tuned for more details about the trip including the Youth's surprise mall performances, a visit to CERA (Carolina Equine Rescue Association) and snapshots from the big event!
